Acrylic vs Glass

While these two materials are similar in many ways, they both offer advantages in different settings. While glass might be a better option for windows, acrylic is more suitable material for making clear furniture.

On the surface, glass and acrylic may look identical but a few things to keep in mind when deciding the materials to use.
Durability – while acrylic might be susceptible to scratching, it’s much harder to crack or shatter than a glass.
Scratching – A clear advantage that glass has over acrylic is that glass is much harder to scratch. Acrylic scratches quite easily but the beauty of it is that it can be buffed out with relative ease whereas glass is much harder to repair.
Shape – While glass can be molded and shaped, it’s more brittle than acrylic. Acrylic is far easier to mold and shape.
Weight – Glass is much heavier than Acrylic.

Which is a better option?

While acrylic and glass has its differences and advantages is some areas, when it comes to clear furniture, Acrylic is a better option. While pointing out that acrylic scratches much easier than glass, acrylic is more flexible to work with in terms of weight, durability, and capability of shaping and forming in more ways than glass cannot.
