Because of the costly process and expensive material, we do not stock any furniture. All designs are made to order. Therefore, no two pieces of furniture are the same. This makes each unit a unique work of art. For any more questions give us a call and we are more than happy to help.
Where is the furniture made?
All furnishings are fabricated in our 12,000 square foot plant facility located in Toronto, Ontario. We pride ourselves in our work and have very high standards in the quality we want to deliver our customers. The only way to provide this is by controlling our operations here in Canada, with the best team of fabricators, state of the art equipment and high quality materials.
What is the difference between Acrylic and Lucite?
Lucite is a brand name. Acrylic is the actual material. The brands we like to work with is Lucite, Chemcast, Acrylite and Plexiglas. These all meet the same ISO and high quality standards.
How do I clean it?
Any abrasive cleaners will dry out the plastic, creating cracks and webbing. The best way to clean acrylic is with water and a touch of dishwashing liquid, using a soft, non-linting cloth or sponge. Never wipe the surface dry. The nice thing about acrylic is dust will hardly cling to the surface because of its smoothness. So cleaning is kept to a minimum.
Does it scratch?
Unfortunately, Acrylic will scratch more easily than wood, glass or metal. For this reason you will commonly see coffee tables and dinning tables with glass tops. These kinds of furnishings need the glass to be incorporated in order for it to be truly functional. Glass can never mimic the clarity of acrylic but Starphire Glass comes very close to clarity and its rigidity and durability is ideal to use as a top.
Why is it so expensive? Isn’t it just plastic?
It is understandable for people to associate acrylic with plastics we see in our home (Tupperware, juice jugs, toys etc.). Most of the plastic we use day to day are either imported low grade recycled plastic or industrial plastics meant for specific applications. Although acrylic is a type of plastic, it is the most expensive substrate compared to glass, wood or metal. There are only a few mills that produce excellent quality acrylic. The acrylics we use meet the highest quality standards. We call it virgin material. This means that they are made fresh from the mill and not recycled. The price for Acrylic is always (and has always been) increasing. For this reason our prices are always subject to change.
