Welcome to the Marion Collection FAQ
Here, you’ll find answers to common questions about our custom acrylic furniture, including details on materials, cleaning, and care. If you have additional questions, feel free to contact us here.
Do you have inventory?
At Marion Collection, we create every piece to order. Due to the high cost of materials and the custom design process, we do not stock furniture. Each piece is a unique work of art, tailored to your needs. For further inquiries, give us a call—we’re happy to help!
Where is the furniture made?
We fabricate all furnishings in our 12,000-square-foot facility in Toronto, Ontario. By controlling our operations locally, we ensure every piece meets the highest standards of quality. Our skilled team of fabricators uses state-of-the-art equipment and premium materials to deliver excellence in every project.
What is the difference between Acrylic and Lucite?
Lucite is a well-known brand of acrylic, while acrylic refers to the actual material. At Marion Collection, we work with top brands such as Lucite, Chemcast, Acrylite, and Plexiglas. All these materials meet ISO and high-quality standards, ensuring exceptional results.
How do I clean it?
To clean acrylic furniture, follow these simple steps:
- Use a mild dishwashing liquid mixed with lukewarm water.
- Gently wipe the surface with a soft, non-linting cloth or sponge.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can dry out the plastic and cause cracks or webbing.
- Never wipe the surface dry to avoid scratching.
One benefit of acrylic is that dust rarely clings to its smooth surface, so cleaning is minimal.
Does it scratch?
Acrylic is more prone to scratching than wood, glass, or metal. For this reason, we often pair acrylic tables with glass tops to protect the surface. While glass cannot perfectly replicate the clarity of acrylic, Starphire Glass offers a close match and provides excellent rigidity and durability.
Why is it so expensive? Isn’t it just plastic?
Acrylic is a type of plastic, but it’s far from ordinary. Most plastics you see daily—like Tupperware or juice jugs—are made from low-grade recycled materials. By contrast, acrylic is the most expensive plastic substrate, often surpassing glass, wood, and metal in quality.
At Marion Collection, we use virgin acrylic materials sourced from the finest mills, ensuring exceptional clarity and durability. This premium quality, combined with its intricate manufacturing process, explains the higher cost. As a result, prices for acrylic may fluctuate due to market demand.
